Elaine - High Point Senior Photographer

“Cultivate the light you have within you, and it will SHINE through as a radiant expression that will be seen by others.” ~Gordon B. Hinckley

Have you ever met someone who just seems to radiate light? Elaine is one of those people for me - and probably by anyone that meets her. I had the opportunity to get to know her for 8 months and I can tell you this, I could have used a few more months with this special girl. But, she needed to spread her light around to some other people as she begins her Senior year of High School.

She is an amazing writer and artist. She is a good friend. She is wise beyond her years. She loves serving others. She is full of hope and goodness. I hope you all have an Elaine in your life.

We were able to sneak away for a couple hours just a few days before she moved away and I am so glad we did. The images from her session just bring a smile to my face.

Teens and Seniors Influencer Program - Greensboro Senior Photographer

Now that it is officially 2018, I am putting the finishing touches on my Teen and Senior Influencer Program (aka Senior Model Rep).  I know January seems a little early to be thinking about Senior pictures, but believe me summer comes quickly!  And I am already scheduling clients for the 2018-19 school year - hello 2019 Graduates.

One of the things that has been on my heart regarding my rep program is to have a service project aspect.  Because of that, I am changing the title of the program to the Influencer program.  My main mission for my Teen and Senior photography business is to empower today's youth with confidence so they can go out and leave their mark on the world and be ambassador's for good. I feel that by providing them a way to serve their peers will instill a love for helping others and to be an influence for good.

I also want to create a group of youth that will be role models for walking confidently in your own skin. I would love nothing more than to on board underclassmen who can work with me over the next couple years to change the face of beauty in their schools.  It is my ideal that these Influencers will be a mouthpiece to help others gain self confidence and know that they are awesome just the way God made them.

If this sounds like something you or someone you know would like to be a part of, simply fill out the application here: https://audraelkington.wufoo.com/forms/aep-senior-questionnaire/

I am aiming for 2-3 students from each of the local Triad NC high schools - Guilford County/Greensboro schools, High Point, and Winston-Salem schools.  I cannot wait to see the impact we can all make together!

Greensboro Senior Photographer ~ Page High School ~ Meet Malin

I met Malin in a round-a-bout way.  Her mom regularly attends a fitness class I teach at a local fitness center here in Greensboro.  Being that we had recently moved here when I first started teaching, I was talking to her mom about how I didn't know any babysitters.  Voila!  She offered up her daughter, who loves kids, and the rest is history.  I can be somewhat shy and reserved, but not when it comes to getting someone to help me with my munchkins.

Malin, my girls (I don't typically bring them to sessions, but they adore this girl) and I met up at the Paul J Ciener Botanical Garden in Kernersville.  It was perfectly cloudy, breezy, and warm - basically a great evening for a photo shoot.  The location was gorgeous and had a good mix of the natural/plant vibe and lots of brick and stone to satisfy my love of a 'downtown' vibe.  I will definitely be going back for other sessions.

While most High School Seniors take the summer off to spend some quality time with friends and family before they head off to college, Malin is cutting that short.  She is heading out on a huge, scary and (what is sure to be) an amazing adventure pretty much as soon as she tosses her cap.  It's going to be so much fun watching where life takes her.

Best of luck, Malin!

On Being a MomTog | Greensboro Family Photographer

Being a photographer with my own children is both awesome and a little frustrating.  If you're a parent, then you can probably relate with me when I say my children are always better behaved for other adults than they are for me.  I have no problem having amazing sessions with other children - I can always manage some smiles and spontaneous fun.  With my own children, however, I just never ever know which attitude they are going to bring to a shoot - if I can even get them out the door.  The plus side, however, is that I can gauge when they might be in a cooperative mood and can head out the door at any given moment with nothing more than my camera and my child.

As I have been getting more acclimated to Greensboro and Winston-Salem, I am finding so many amazing locations for photo sessions.  I stumbled upon this pretty field a couple weeks ago after dropping off a babysitter.  When I saw the trees speckled with all the pretty flowers, I knew it would be the perfect spot for my 7 year old's annual photo shoot.  She's obsessed with pretty flowers so I figured she'd oblige me.  Thankfully, she did not disappoint and I managed to capture who she is at age 7.

World...Meet my sassy SEVEN year old.  I may be biased, but isn't she gorgeous?  (oh, and the almost two year old had to jump in because, helloooooo, matching dresses from Gymboree)

Greensboro Senior Photographer ~ Northwest Guilford HS ~ Meet Grace

Hey hey!  Time to finally get this new blog kicked off.  It's taken me a little bit of time to call Greensboro 'home', but I truly feel like this is my place.  The place where I think my family will finally settle down and get comfortable.  Which, for me, means that I finally feel like I can pick my photography business back up and make a name for myself.  (For those of you who I haven't known long, I had a pretty great photography business going when my family lived in Michigan a few years ago.  Had to put it on the back burner for a few years because, well, family first and we moved twice.)

With that being said, a few weeks ago, I was able to meet up with a super sweet girl to start refreshing my high school student portfolio.  February has had amazing weather in North Carolina this year.  We ended up with a perfect afternoon and found a location in Colfax with amazing lighting. Grace is one of my model representatives at Northwest High School in Greensboro.  Her family recently moved to the area and we got to be neighbors for a few shorts months.  She is already finding her place and plays both Varsity Volleyball and recently made the Girls Softball team - Go Vikings.  On top of being a great athlete, Grace is also really funny, friendly, beautiful and all around just plain fun to hang out with.  And my kids say she bakes a mean chocolate chip cookie.  What can I say?  Working with teenagers, I need to capitalize on the babysitting perks, too.
