families are forever

P Family at Childress Vineyards - Greensboro Family Photographer

I love getting to play catch up with past clients and this family is certainly one of my favorites. I cannot believe I have known them for a decade - back when we were both single child families. We met up halfway between Charlotte and Greensboro at Childress Vineyards - what a gorgeous location! If you haven’t visited the grounds at Childress, it’s definitely worth the drive and they have an amazing lunch menu.

Fall Family pictures are some of my favorites and we threw in a first Birthday update this time, too. I have to hand it to this mama because they are always so well coordinated with the outfits! Take note!

Here are some of my favorites from their session on a gorgeous September afternoon.

Project 52 - February 2018 - Greensboro Photographer

I'm really not sure where February went.  It pretty much flew by in a haze of traveling husband, sick kids, me being sick and random projects/events.  I did manage to keep up with my Project 52, but the 365 took a hit and I'm okay with that.  In the end, I'm still taking way more pictures of my personal life and that is the whole point.

February marked one more step toward no more baby stuff in our house.  I noticed how much the pacifier was messing up my toddler's teeth.  One morning I woke up to find her and everything in her crib (including the binkies) covered in vomit.  So, rather than buying new ones, I encouraged her to throw them away and be a big girl.  She happily obliged and that was it.  She shocked me because she really loved those things, but she hardly shed a tear that first night and never asked for them again.

And I have very obviously been on a black and white kick lately.  I even ordered a few canvas for my dining room and those are all black and white, too.  I'm loving the simplicity of it.

Greensboro Family Photographer ~ The H Family

This family portrait session has been over a decade in the making.  When I was pregnant with my first child, I joined a first time moms forum on Babycenter.com (<--is that still a thing?).  I met an amazing group of women on there and we have all continued to grow our friendships over the past 11 years.  The sweet mama in these images was one of those women.  In fact, her oldest and my oldest have the exact same Birthday!  I really never thought I'd get the chance to meet the entire H family in person.  But, lucky me, this past summer they moved across the country from Washington state to the Raleigh area and one of the first things my friend did was ask if I was still doing family sessions.  Ummm, YES!  So, one gorgeous weekend in October, we met up at Guilford Mackintosh Lake Park in Burlington and were finally able to hug each other in person.

These kiddos had me at hello.  They were so cooperative and the whole family just was genuinely fun to be around for the evening.  I am so glad they live such a short drive away now and can't wait for my own family to meet them!
